Course Overview - Virtual Reality
This Virtual Reality course is specifically for designers who are interested in learning how to develop and design new virtual reality environments and learn how to develop VR games. You do not need any programming experience to get started. This course will teach you how to create a range of virtual reality applications. You will learn about the basic concepts and technologies of VR. You will then get hands on, learning about how to move around in VR and how to interact with the objects in your world. The course will finish with some advice from experts on VR interaction design and you will do a project where you will get real experience of developing VR Interaction.
By the end of this course, you will have created and deployed a VR application. You will understand the physical principles of VR and you will use that knowledge to create a comfortable, high-performance VR application using the Unreal Engine. If you are interested in learning how to develop training simulations or 3D environments, then this course is perfect for you.

Course Content - Beginners - 1 Day
Welcome to day one, we will cover the design of environments using Unreal Engine VR. You will learn how to develop 3D games, and how basis interaction works. During this first day, we will cover:
- Design in 3D Environments
- Modelling in Blender
- Moving around in VR
- Building Basic Environments in Unreal Engine
- Texture mapping
- Installing and using GoogleVR
We will also cover moving around in your environment, here we will look at physical navigation, such as walk-in-place, and virtual navigation.
Course Content - Intermediate - 1 Day
Welcome to day two, today we will be looking at interacting with objects in VR. We'll cover topics such as interacting with objects within reach. We'll then move on to physics interaction, and how this works in VR. During this second day, we will cover:
- Physical and Virtual Navigation
- Interacting with Objects in VR
- Skybox rendering
- 3D Blender modelling
- Artificial Intelligent objects
- Customer Texture design
- Packing a VR application
- Creating a stunning forest VR experience
Course Content - Advanced - 1 Day
Welcome to our final day. Here we will focus on the challenges in VR design. You will begin by learning about graphical user interfaces in VR, including abstract interfaces, before moving on to designing VR interaction. During this day, we will cover:
- User Interface Design
- C# coding and editing
- Object Interaction
- Testing your VR application
- Creating the surface of Mars explorer VR environment
Who is this course for?
These courses are for people who are interested in becoming Virtual Reality Developers. You don't need any particular experience of development, but some experience of digital creative work (e.g. photoshop, illustrator, digital music) will be helpful.
